OneSpace needs version 1.5.1 or newer of the app. When you open an older version, the app shows an update screen with a button to the store, and nothing else works until the update is installed. This applies to the Android, iPhone, iPad and Mac apps.
Why the store does not offer the update
Each app store only offers a version to devices whose operating system is new enough to run it. If your device cannot be updated to a supported operating system, the store cannot offer you the current OneSpace version, and the update screen stays. We support the operating system versions that Apple, Google and Microsoft support; once they stop supporting a version, updating the device is the way to keep using the apps. We cannot switch the update requirement off for a single account.
What you can do
- Use another device. Install the current app from its store on any other phone, tablet or computer you have, and sign in with your usual account. Your account, contacts and received files are there.
- Use the web client. The web client at webclient.onespacesecurity.com is a light version of OneSpace with nothing to install. You sign in with Google or Facebook and send one file of up to 1 GB, protected with a password; the file is deleted after 24 hours or as soon as it has been downloaded. The web client is separate from the app, so it does not show your contacts or your files.
Windows is not affected by this requirement at the moment.
